A Pop-Up Says I Have a Virus

   Don't click anything in the pop-up

   Not "Remove Virus", not "Call Now", not even the X — some fake ones are traps too.

   Close the browser completely

   Close every browser window, or restart your computer if you're not sure it's fully closed.

   Never call a number shown in the pop-up

   Real security warnings from Microsoft, Apple, or Google never include a phone number to call.

   Don't let anyone remote into your computer because of it

   This is one of the most common tech scams in Australia — a scary pop-up leading to a fake support call.
